We're bringing back our Sip & Savor Happy Hour on Wednesday, October 8th, and we're trying out this new day and time to see if it works better for everyone. Based on the response, we'll continue hosting them bi-monthly!

Special Guest: Author Brad Angeja
We're excited to welcome Brad Angeja, author of the new historical novel Volta Portugal, to our Sip & Savor! Brad is a San Francisco cardiologist with deep roots in Bay Area Portuguese-American communities. His grandparents immigrated from Portugal in the early 1900s, and he grew up in the East Bay surrounded by Portuguese culture. After studying English Literature and Portuguese Language at UCLA, he went on to earn his medical degree from UCSF, but his passion for storytelling never faded.
His debut novel, Volta Portugal (released August 29, 2025), is a vivid biographical historical fiction set in the San Francisco Bay Area spanning from World War II through Portugal's Carnation Revolution. It follows an orphaned boy taken in by Portuguese immigrants and explores themes of heritage, identity, fatherhood, and the immigrant experience. Brad's unique blend of medical expertise, literary training, and cultural heritage brings an authentic, multidimensional voice to Portuguese-American stories. This is a rare opportunity to meet the author and books will be available for purchase.

At past Sip & Savors, members brought petiscos (Portuguese-style tapas), both homemade and store-bought, that made our gatherings truly special. We'd love for you to contribute light, savory, or sweet shareable bites to add that surprise element to our potluck!
